Hello
I'm Scott Hewson, owner of K9 Capabilities, a locally-owned Canadian Dog Obedience School, based in North Vancouver where I live with my wife, Danielle, our son, Avery and Cannon, our golden retriever dog. Training occurs at a location of your preference or in the large garden of our home in North Vancouver. I became active in training animals at a young age, and deepened my knowledge of the relationship between dog and owner while studying dog obedience techniques from world-renowned Ben Kersen in Victoria, BC where I earned a Professional Dog Training Certificate.
Prior to becoming involved with training dogs, I played hockey for Penticton in the BCHL for three years and then went to Bowling Green University in Ohio on a full scholarship. After completing four years education and graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education, I played minor-pro hockey in the east-coast hockey league.
Following this, I followed my passion and worked with Ben Kersen to hone my skills in dog training and dog psychology.
I specialize in changing dog's behaviour including calming aggressive dogs, reducing anxiety, and dog obedience. I have become respected by my clients because I work with dog owners to involve them in problem solving with their animals. Together, we troubleshoot behaviours common in a wide variety of breeds and we maximize positive relationships between owner and animal.
All dog owners have the ability to develop appropriate techniques to manage the behaviour of their dogs leading to enjoyable ownership with their chosen pets. My techniques and communication processes build and transfer confidence and knowledge to the owner.
"It is my goal to be the best trainer and dog psychologist there is, and in doing this, your dog is always my number 1 job"
Scott Hewson uses a personal style and professional approach that provides outcomes that are - "Consistent, Disciplined and Positive."
